Would you be surprised to learn that the type of toothbrush you use has a big impact on the overall quality of your oral health? If so, you’re not alone. Plenty of people fail to make this important oral health connection.
To help you better understand the importance of this decision, let’s look at why your dentist recommends you pay special attention to your toothbrush choices.
Does it really make a difference?
You may not think so, but our team here at Crossroads Dental in Chesapeake, Virginia, can vouch for the fact that a good toothbrush really does make a difference. One that’s the right size, with the correct bristle stiffness, will more effectively clean the harder-to-reach areas of your mouth.
What kind should I use?
Ideally, you should use an electric toothbrush with a revolving circular head. These are very similar to the brushes we use here at our office, and they do a great job of cleaning the back of your mouth – which is consistently the hardest place to properly clean.
These types of brushes do a great job of removing plaque as well, as they’re more effective at cleaning in between teeth and around the gum line. That doesn’t mean you can get away with not flossing – it just makes your flossing that much more effective.
